References are one of the key essentials to landing the perfect job

As an independent recruiter, I can attest to one consistent practice in the therapy hiring process and that is checking references. Every employer, before they make a decision to hire, will check at least two of your references. If you have experience in the related setting, use supervisory references from that employment. Otherwise, use managers and coworkers from your past therapy positions. Your future manager will look for references from therapy supervisors as well as other therapists and assistants. Always check with your references to assure the phone number is correct as well as their availability to answer questions.
